If you intend to catch business class flights to New York this year, you really should take some time to decide which culture spots to visit in advance – as there are far too many to take in during a single trip!
As such, globetrotters heading to the Big Apple for the first time should perhaps make a stop at Central Park the first item on their holiday agendas.
This iconic green space – designed by Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmsted and located in the heart of the city – stretches across 843 acres and features 58 miles of walking paths, 36 bridges and more than 26,000 trees.
A series of outdoor activities can also be participated in and those new to the park might want to keep an eye open for pastimes such as ice-skating, baseball, mushroom walks or lawn bowling.
From there, people might want to pay the Rockefeller Center a visit, a site that may seem familiar to many as it appears on numerous television shows, including 30 Rock.
Once there, ride the elevator to the Top of the Rock Observation Dock, which opens at 08:00 local time. By doing so, travellers will be afforded an absolutely amazing view of the renowned New York skyline, which covers more than 100 buildings, as well as the Statue of Liberty.
After taking the lift back down, the next stop could easily be the Museum of Modern Art – just three blocks away to the north of the city. Here, people can check out some of the best examples of contemporary art in the country.
There are many other museums in the city and if you haven’t had your fill of culture, the Guggenheim may be a good choice as well. The gallery’s permanent collection features works by the likes of Vasily Kandinsky, Franz Marc and Marc Chagall, among others, and could be the perfect daytrip for anyone with an eye for art.
Harlem is also a must for any traveller who wants to experience the real New York. This is one of the most vibrant parts of the Big Apple and there is so much to do here that people may struggle to pick just one activity to enjoy.
A good choice might be visiting one of the neighbourhood’s performing arts venues. The Apollo Theater, for example, holds Amateur Night on Wednesdays, which could be fun. Visitors may be impressed by the fact that the likes of Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald once took to the stage here.
